Review A tale of betrayal, agony, friendship and destiny, Berserk (1997) is the ultimate package. The protagonist, Guts, just might be the most badass nigga to ever wield a sword. The story is pretty gripping and follows the lines of your typical medieval classic, packing enough drama and violence. But BOOM! Enter the climax and you’re into the unforeseen deeper and darker side of the series that’ll leave you haunted, disturbed and depressed. Of course, that’s because it ends in a cliffhanger... A CLIFFHANGER (I hate cliffhangers)!
Personally, the sudden shift in style didn’t appeal to me but you could watch it and explore the rest of the series through the Manga or the 2016 version. Nevertheless, as the person who recommended this said, this series is "platinum coated with gold” and he was totally right, Berserk isn’t just an ordinary anime, it’s an example of the perfect dark narrative. I'd give it… RATING: 8/10
