Review Neon Genesis Evangelion deals with a troubled teen’s ordeals after joining his father's alien annihilation force to save the world after a major catastrophe purged half of the world’s population. Personally, I like old school animation from the 90's, it’s got retro-aesthetic vibe especially when it has sci-fi touch.
The series starts out pretty straightforward and as it progresses towards the end, it dives deep into three aspects - theology, philosophy and existentialism. It's like 2001: A Space Odyssey with an intra-terrestrial plot and heavy narrative. Definitely, a mind-boggling anime. The series will definitely broaden your understanding of happiness, loneliness, depression, self-hatred and many more psychologically troubling concepts and would certainly rejuvenate your mind if you’re going through an existential or identity crisis. It’s pretty short and is a must watch that’ll occupy a special place in your heart. I'd give it… RATING: 9/10
