A detective tails an intelligent criminal who decides to pull off one final heist.

How would I describe this film in one word?
Overlong.
Note It's a long film. I kept checking the clock. So yeah. That says something.
Review
Heat, is a crime thriller about a long-running, skilled criminal taking on one last high-stakes heist with a dedicated police officer chasing his tail. At least, that's what story which begins halfway through the film. Yes, it's a very long film clocking in on a 2 hours 51 minute runtime. You may think this is an movie which falls in the epic genre, but it just feels like a lot of backstory which leads up to the main film. The Godfather duo of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro play their characters exceptionally as always especially the former in this one. You want to love the story and feel the thrill on this one because it seems to have great potential, but you never feel the heat of suspense on this one. You just enjoy it as a entertainer rather than a thriller. Or maybe it's just me that it's spell didn't work on. Which is unfortunate because I'd hoped that the 171 minute runtime was enough to work a spell on me. It's a fine, enjoyable film regardless but one which I didn't feel the rush of thrill by.
